This Day in Giants History: October 12, 1896

Volatile New York Giants owner Andrew Freedman is found guilty of an April 22nd assault on New York Times baseball writer Edward Hurst. (Hurst had had the temerity to blame Freedman in person for the Giants’ poor showing on the field.) Freedman receives a suspended sentence.
